Otherwise I think this was a really solid and quick listen especially for fans of grumpy/sunshine, single dad, friends to lovers and fake dating.Farley Jones is being forced to date Meyer Harrigan, the man she has come to love, in order to make all of her stand-up dreams come true. The fact that she felt bad or like it was her fault somehow and didn’t pursue any type of consequences for the lady really left a sour taste in my mouth. Also I really wished that Farley had handled the incident with the lady and the coffee differently.

There was really no reason for them not to act on their feelings after they had talked things out but for some reason they continued to dance around each other for months after that. My only critiques are that I felt the slow burn was unnecessary. He had so much depth and even by the end of the book I still don’t think I had him completely figured out. The way Farley came in and single-handedly saved her birthday party while using ASL was so heartwarming. I adored the relationship between Meyer, Farley and his daughter. I really enjoyed this quick yet humorous listen. But maybe it’s a sign for them to finally take a risk and see if they can come out on the other side. The only problem is Meyer and Farley have both been dancing around their feelings for years now choosing to put their friendship and professional relationship above any spark of romance. Two of her fave female comedians invite her to tour with them and in order to drum up some hype and publicity they suggest she stir up a fake romance with her manager and prior big name in comedy, Meyer. It doesn't take long for their act to bring all those other funny feelings out into the open, and, like most matters of the heart, it quickly begins to feel like anything but a joke.įarley is finally getting her big break in the stand up comedy world. This friendship is the only reason why, when the biggest opportunity of Farley's career includes thrusting him back into the spotlight to stir up publicity, he agrees-in spite of his grumpiness, his protectiveness over Hazel, and his disdain for public attention.
